For my latest "On the Job" stop, I had the pleasure of working a shift at the Food + Farm Exploration Center in Plover.

This local business, located on a 24-acre site, is a place that connects agriculture, education, STEM and workforce development. It includes a teaching farm, a children’s museum, a science center and a community workshop that focuses on celebrating food and farming.

Reducing Correctional Officer Vacancies

Earlier this month we observed Correctional Officer Appreciation Week as an acknowledgement that the employees who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe have some of the hardest jobs around. In recent years, worker shortages at our state prisons have climbed as vacancy rates reached an average of 35%, with some facilities seeing higher than 40% vacancy rates. This only put more stress on the officers who continued to do the job day-in and day-out, as they were asked to work endless days and endless hours with no breaks in sight.

Wisconsin State Senate Attempts Veto Override

Wisconsin’s state Senate met this week to attempt to override up to 36 of Governor Evers’ vetoes of bills passed by Republicans during the last legislative session, including three bills that would have created a framework to spend $125 million to combat PFAS pollution, allot $15 million to Chippewa Valley hospitals, and require post-election audits – all of which Democrats fiercely opposed.

Pfaff Marches to Orders from Madison, Obstructs PFAS Relief Again

State Sen. Brad (“PFAS Pfaff”) was given an opportunity today that elected officials rarely enjoy: a do-over. But instead of doing the right thing for the people of the 32nd Senate District, he once again chose his radical Madison friends and rejected PFAS relief that residents of the Town of Campbell and throughout the Coulee Region are counting on. The vote was part of Senate Republicans’ effort to override Gov. Tony Evers’ politically motivated veto of Senate Bill 312, which the Governor has cynically used as a part of a political messaging campaign in advance of this fall’s elections.

Wisconsin Supreme Court May Reconsider Absentee Ballot Drop Boxes

A little over a year ago, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that drop boxes for absentee ballots were illegal based on state law. However, Democrats have recently asked the high court to reconsider that decision. Attorney General Josh Kaul filed a brief in this case arguing the law allows drop boxes because in 2021, 570 drop boxes were placed across 66 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties and the share of Wisconsin voters casting an absentee ballot increased significantly.

The Joint Legislative Audit Committee approved a full audit of all DEI policies and how they are employed across state agencies this week. This audit will be broad in scope and will take the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau many months to complete. They estimate their work will go in to 2025. You can read their memo to the Audit Committee on what the audit could include here.

Baldwin wants to bring Gaza to Wisconsin

My Democrat opponent Tammy Baldwin just came out in full support of Joe Biden’s plan to allow Palestinian refugees from Gaza into the United States.

This plan is not only a bad idea, it’s a dangerous one!

Wisconsin residents are already struggling under the weight of Biden’s failures. Now, they want to spend even more taxpayer dollars on refugees who could pose a severe risk to national security.

The RNC Committeeman position is a role designed to keep the GOP leadership at the national level connected and engaged with the grassroots of the state GOP.

Duties include taking part in the election of the chair and co-chair positions of RNC leadership and guiding the establishment of national policies and a party platform. But their most important duty, as mentioned above, is to be an ambassador for our state and a conduit of information exchange between our grassroots party members and the national leadership.
