There is a Constitutional Amendment on Tuesday’s Spring Election ballot. After all the previous ones on recent Wisconsin ballots, a legitimate question might be “Why another Constitutional Amendment for Wisconsin?”
On April 1, Wisconsin voters will decide the ideological balance of our state’s Supreme Court, choosing between conservative Brad Schimel and liberal Susan Crawford. Our President Emeritus, Julaine Appling, has often noted, “elections have consequences.” This is a momentous election for our state – it will be the last opportunity to flip the Court to conservative control until 2028. This election will have consequences that impact the future of school choice, abortion, Act 10 (which has saved taxpayers billions of dollars), parental rights, and more.
On Wednesday, the Kinser for Our Wisconsin Kids campaign released a new radio ad featuring Dr. Howard Fuller, a well-known education reformer, former Superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools, and distinguished Professor Emeritus of Education at Marquette University.
This Tuesday, April 1, is Wisconsin’s Spring Election. Voters will choose the next justice of the state Supreme Court, either conservative Brad Schimel or liberal Susan Crawford. Voters will also determine the next Superintendent of Public Instruction. The race is between liberal incumbent Jill Underly and moderate challenger Brittany Kinser. A constitutional amendment seeking to enshrine Voter ID laws into the state’s constitution will also be on the ballot, in addition to other local elections.
Thank you to those who have reached out because of your sincere concern about the FALSE attack ad from Jill Underly’s campaign. It is playing on broadcast TV in all major media markets. I wanted you to see my response and the media release below.
Jill Underly's attack ads are false, and she knows it. It's very sad that she’s resorting to lying, instead of addressing her failures: lowering academic standards, hiding the MPS financial fiasco, and overseeing a reading crisis without a plan. I’ll keep focusing on what matters—our kids deserve better from their DPI Superintendent.
It has been quoted that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. We all want better results.
My primary focus this legislative session has been on engaging with as many people as possible across the state in preparation for writing the Wisconsin State Budget. Even while working on the budget, I have found time to author a few bills, many of which started as ideas that came from people like you! I wanted to give you an update on some of the legislation I have been working on this legislative session:
The Coulee Region Friends of NRA recently held their spectacular Spring banquet at Stoney Creek Hotel in Onalaska, uniting more than 150 community members in a shared mission to support youth shooting sports in the region. The evening was filled with generosity, camaraderie, and an unwavering commitment to fostering the next generation of sportsmen and sportswomen.
