Two days after Christmas and only two candidates for State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI) can be found online. The SSPI is the elected leader of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI). What is the rush you ask? Nomination papers, complete with a couple of thousand signatures, are due to be returned to the Wisconsin Election Commission in less than two weeks!

This month, I've been meeting with President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet nominees.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will do an excellent job of advocating for the American people instead of big business and big government. He will restore integrity to scientific research and government agencies. I look forward to working with him to end corporate capture of federal agencies and Make America Healthy Again.

A few weeks ago I wrote of the demise of the destructive and debilitating social program known as DEI – an acronym for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Within days I saw a NEWSMAX magazine article “Divisive, Extreme, and Intolerant” with a subtitle of “That’s what DEI has become. And conservatives are no longer the only skeptics.” That article concluded “The death of DEI isn’t a tragedy – it’s an opportunity.”

Senate leadership has announced committee assignments for the upcoming legislative session, and I have been selected to be the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Revenue.

The agriculture industry, which is a significant driver of our state's economy, employs nearly 12 percent of our workers and generates an annual economic impact of more than $100 billion. I am eager to advance bills that help our farmers strengthen the agriculture sector while also protecting our natural resources and the health of our residents.
