From the age of 16 until I joined the U.S. Navy, I supported myself by working in a restaurant, so I personally understand how important tips are for folks who rely on them as their main source of income. In Wisconsin, many tipped workers make $2.33/hour, meaning that the more of their tips they can take home, the better suited they will be to provide for themselves and their families.
Back-to-school season is quickly approaching, and many parents are heading to the store to buy their child’s school supplies. However, inflation has increased the cost of nearly every item, making it more difficult for families to prepare their child for the new school year. According to a report from the National Retail Federation, parents with children in elementary through high school can expect to spend an average of $874.68 on clothes, shoes, school supplies, and electronics – the second-highest budget in the survey’s history.
In August the Sparta Area School District (SASD) Board of Education approved an $87,000,000 referendum question for the November 5th ballot for safety and renovations of various school buildings. The two major safety concerns to be addressed include a bus and drop off access at the Southside Early Learning Center and a secured, one-door entrance into Meadowview Middle School.
The federal government is long overdue in their work to combat the PFAS contamination they created. For decades, the federal government mandated that airports use firefighting foams containing PFAS, resulting in these “forever chemicals” finding their way into folks’ drinking water. We’ve seen this in Eau Claire and the Town of Campbell, where PFAS levels are so high that families have been unable to drink from the faucets in their homes for years.
Since Biden took office, Americans are paying an extra $1,000 per month to maintain their standard of living.
People are feeling real economic pain. They can’t afford basic necessities because of the record-high inflation caused by massive deficit spending. pic.twitter.com/eXyNCj3ilq— Senator Ron Johnson (@SenRonJohnson) May 22, 2024
To quote Representative Steve Doyle, he says that for far too long the politicians in Madison have created gridlock and refused to talk with each other. What Mr Doyle fails to mention is that he has been part of that problem in Madison since 2011. Mr Doyle also says he is bipartisan, to the extent he calls himself “Mr Bipartisan”. He is correct that he is bipartisan, I cannot argue about that one bit. He is so bipartisan that he will even vote two ways on the same bill.
On Friday, AUG 23, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed President Trump.
The following are excerpts from Kennedy’s Press Release:
Kennedy will remain on the ballot in most of the states for which he has qualified. “But in about 10 battleground states where my presence would be a spoiler,” Kennedy said, “I will remove my name and urge voters not to vote for me.”
As I write this it is 8/26/24, the 3rd Anniversary of the loss of 13 service members during the withdrawal from Afghanistan. I was just coming from a breakfast, honoring veterans, at the Dorset Valley Schoolhouse restaurant. (It is a free breakfast - in honor of those who have served. It is held on the last Monday of the month, unless that day is a national holiday, then it is on Tuesday. ) It was 10:40 and I was listening to Sirius' Patriot Radio.
This week we have several announcements we wanted to share with you.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was voted to stay on the ballot by the Wisconsin Election Commission after literally requesting to withdraw his nomination. Jill Stein and Cornel West will also remain, but Election Integrity is one of the most important ways to get involved to protect the vote. Observers can still make a difference with their eyes on the process.
