'On the Job' at Food + Farm Exploration Center
For my latest "On the Job" stop, I had the pleasure of working a shift at the Food + Farm Exploration Center in Plover.
This local business, located on a 24-acre site, is a place that connects agriculture, education, STEM and workforce development. It includes a teaching farm, a children’s museum, a science center and a community workshop that focuses on celebrating food and farming.
During my time at the Food + Farm Exploration Center, I assisted a school group that was on a field trip, stocked shelves in the gift shop, made lunch in the café for employees and visitors, installed outdoor signage and tested equipment.
I was also honored to participate in a check presentation ceremony where it was announced that the Food + Farm Exploration Center and Central Rivers Farmshed are teaming up to distribute fresh vegetables to area food pantries.
My staff is currently putting together video footage of my visit to the Food + Farm Exploration Center. I'll be happy to share the finished product with all of you as soon as it is ready.
Since I was first elected to the Wisconsin Senate in 2016, I have regularly spent a day "On the Job" with local employers to get a better understanding of their operations and to highlight the employment opportunities available in our area. It also allows me to see how the decisions we make in Madison impact our local communities.
If you know of a business in the 24th Senate District that would like to be featured in one of my future "On the Job" segments, please contact my office.
