Why Another Constitutional Amendment?
There is a Constitutional Amendment on Tuesday’s Spring Election ballot. After all the previous ones on recent Wisconsin ballots, a legitimate question might be “Why another Constitutional Amendment for Wisconsin?”
The current referendum question concerns requiring a photo ID being required to vote in Wisconsin is already law. Wisconsin’s voter ID law went into effect in 2012. This referendum, if approved, will change the requirement from being a law to becoming a Constitutional requirement. A few weeks ago CouleeConservatives.com published two articles on the subject. One was a good explanation by State Senator Howard Marklein and the other, by “doug”, referenced Marklein’s article but added a little more discussion.
Thinking of photo ID requirements and maybe you remember the colorful graphic after last November’s election. Initially it looked like Harris won all the states without photo ID and Trump won all the states with photo ID. Upon closer review, Harris won 12 of 14 (85.6%) without photo ID but only 7 of the other 36 states (19.4%). Interesting data with implications, but more information is needed for a more precise conclusion.
The question remains: Why does the Legislature want to make this a Constitutional requirement? Simply put, it is the activist judges or maybe future legislators. To change the Constitution something must be passed by both the State Senate and the Assembly two consecutive sessions and then presented to the people in a referendum. A law, on the other hand, can be struck down by a judge, or judges, or removed by a simple majority in both the Senate and Assembly.
The problem lies in the difference between those that follow “The Rule of Law” and those that follow their own interpretation of the situation – their own likes and dislikes. These people are called “activists”. This has been a hot topic for the past few years (or more). Much has been written about “The Rule of Law.”
Don’t say such foolishness can’t happen in Wisconsin! Remember after the 2020 Census Wisconsin had new legislative maps for the 2022 elections? And remember, we then again had new legislative maps for the 2024 elections? Judicial activism.
NEWSMAX Magazine has had a couple of interesting articles lately. The January 2025 issue had a story “It’s the Judges Stupid” with a subtitle “In an era of partisan lawfare, their absolute immunity (emphasis original) comes under increasing scrutiny.” A sidebar story was “Judiciary Ignored Bias Against Trump”. In the same issue Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman commented that “putting an end to the weaponization of the judiciary, and offering Trump’s nominees fair hearings” would be a couple of his major concerns in 2025.
The February 2025 issue of NEWSMAX had an article ”It’s the Judges, Stupid!” with a subtitle “New President’s judicial choices set the direction for America”. That article concludes “…Trump can resume appointing judges who take the words of the Constitution and statutes seriously and will once again make impartiality, not politics, their biggest priority.” But, in Wisconsin, we elect our judges.
So, all this judicial political activism must be considered and a Constitutional Amendment is needed to solidify the requirement of a phot ID for elections in Wisconsin. A lot of naysayers will verbally attack this, but Sen Marklein pointed out that 77% of Wisconsinites support this requirement and since it became law in 2012, we have seen some of the highest turnout elections in recent history. A “YES” vote will help the cause.
Also on Tuesday’s ballot is the election for the Supreme Court where, without the contested seat, it is a 3 – 3 liberal versus conservative bench. Candidate Brad Schimel, the former Republican State Attorney General, is currently on the Waukesha County Circuit Court where he follows “The Rule of Law” and evaluates the facts before serving judgement. Candidate Susan Crawford, currently on the Dane County Circuit Court, has already indicated how she will vote on several key issues that could come before the Supreme Court. She has said that she knows right from wrong – and this is before she studied the law involved or even listened to the facts! Shimel has said “Yes” to Voter Photo ID” whie Crawford has said “No”.
On a Wisconsin Faith & Freedom Coalition door hanger Shimel said “Yes” to “Let Voters Vote to Stop Late-term Abortion”, “Enforce Immigration Laws”, and “Recognize only 2 Genders” while Crawford provide “No Response”. One has to wonder why this response!
A vote for Schimel will be a vote for “The Rule of Law” and a vote for Wisconsin’s values.
On the same ballot, there is an election for Wisconsin Appeals Court District III or District IV – depending where you live. In both cases, the incumbent is running unopposed. In both cases you can cast a vote for the incumbent to say “Thanks” or you can leave it blank. I am quite sure the incumbent will win either way!
Given the judges or justices, or the legislators that may want to disregard the wishes of “we the people” concerning a photo ID for voters, please cast a “YES” vote on the Constitutional Amendment question and please vote for Brad Schimel for Supreme Court. These two votes will help save the state, and if you have followed national news, may also save the nation! (The State Supreme Court will “somehow” get involved and gerrymander the Congressional maps to favor the Democratic Liberals.) These votes are that important.
Not only are your votes needed, tell your family and friends.

Saving America is a full time Obligation
We have been kind and did not think that the Marxists among us would accomplish so much in the last 30 years. We should admit that it was our passive behavior that allowed these agenda-driven, evil people to come so close to destroying our culture and our families. They have, and now, while we should not have to, we must vote yes and encourage everyone to vote yes. We have seen so many judges hijack our system and get away with it, so this is one massive correction that we can take to stop the erosion of our future, so please vote YES!
