Affordability

Affordability seems to be the up and coming political buzzword of the 2026 campaign season. A starting point for this might be about thirteen months ago when President Trump was inaugurated and the price of eggs was astronomically high and just hours –maybe a day or two- later the new President was roasted for not lowering the price of eggs.

SAVE America Act

Americans don’t want their legitimate votes canceled out by fraudulent ones. Across the political spectrum, people need to feel confident that our elections are legitimate, regardless of the outcome. The SAVE America Act will boost confidence by requiring proof of citizenship to register and a photo ID to vote.

I had a great meeting with President Trump, Senator Rick Scott, and Senator Mike Lee in the Oval Office. We all agree 100% with President Trump on this issue and are working to get this passed in the Senate.

Campaign Update from Team Lazar

The lines in this race have never been clearer. While the media focuses on the latest talking points from the Madison establishment, I want to give you the view from the front lines.

Since Judge Maria Lazar began her campaign, we have seen a massive surge in energy. Voters are tired of the same partisan posturing. They want a justice who understands that the role of the Court is to apply the law as written, not a career politician like Chris Taylor, whose decade-long legislative record is defined by a "tax and spend" philosophy that would fundamentally reshape our state.

Governor’s State of the State Address

Last night, Governor Evers again attempted to shift responsibility to the Republican-led Legislature for challenges that stem from decisions made by his own administration. Wisconsin families are struggling with rising costs, in part because of the governor’s use of his veto to lock in property tax increase authority for the next 400 years.

My Announcement to Not Seek Another Term

For much of 2025, I have been thinking about my future in the Assembly. I love this job with all my heart, and I am beyond proud of what we accomplished in the Assembly. We delivered pivotal conservative reforms leading the Assembly during the longest continuous GOP legislative majority in modern Wisconsin history while also strengthening bipartisanship within the legislature. At the end of each day, I made sure that every decision I did was for the people of Wisconsin - to move this state forward and ensure the government works for you.

No Tax on Car Loan Interest

I am working to make everyday expenses more affordable for families across Wisconsin’s Third District. A new tax deduction will soon help reduce the cost of purchasing a personal vehicle by allowing taxpayers to deduct interest paid on qualifying car loans. Here’s what you need to know:

No Tax on Car Loan Interest (2025-2028)

New deduction: Interest paid on a loan for a qualified personal-use vehicle can be deducted from your taxes.

Up to $10,000 annually: Maximum deduction per year for eligible taxpayers.

Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) Enrollment Open Through February 26

Wisconsin dairy farmers play a critical role in our rural economy, and an important risk management opportunity is currently available through the USDA’s Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program. Enrollment for the 2026 coverage year is now open through February 26, 2026.

The DMC program is a voluntary safety net that provides financial support when the margin between milk prices and feed costs falls below a producer’s selected coverage level, helping stabilize farm income during periods of market instability.

Several Bills Passed by Senate

I am proud that several of my legislative proposals were passed by the Wisconsin State Senate during this week’s floor session.

Two of those bills are part of the Safeguard Wisconsin package, which is designed to protect our state from interference from foreign adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party.

AB 673 bans the use of genetic software from foreign enemies in medical and research facilities and prohibits the storage of any human genome sequencing data within the borders of a foreign adversary.

An Open Letter to Tom Tiffany from a Conservative Wisconsin Voter

I received another fund-raising letter from your campaign a few days ago. It is obvious you are using the same campaign consultants who have been helping Republicans lose elections for years. They are seriously out of touch with conservative Wisconsin voters, and, despite their poor performance, there appears to be no shortage of work for them. One letter I received included a message from you urging voters to email you with their ideas and concerns. I did but was not surprised when I received no response or acknowledgement that I had reached out to you.

Crucial Badger-supported housing bill passes through Senate

A bill that will ultimately help increase housing supply, make homes more affordable and still allow local municipalities to control where and how fast they grow passed through the Wisconsin Senate this week and was expected to pass in the Assembly late Thursday as well.

Dubbed the “Truth in Planning” legislation, AB453 will — if signed by Gov. Tony Evers — assure that cities’ and villages’ zoning ordinances are consistent with their comprehensive plans that identify areas where houses will be allowed and that specify minimum and maximum densities.
