Pivotal SCOWI Election
On April 1, Wisconsin voters will decide the ideological balance of our state’s Supreme Court, choosing between conservative Brad Schimel and liberal Susan Crawford. Our President Emeritus, Julaine Appling, has often noted, “elections have consequences.” This is a momentous election for our state – it will be the last opportunity to flip the Court to conservative control until 2028. This election will have consequences that impact the future of school choice, abortion, Act 10 (which has saved taxpayers billions of dollars), parental rights, and more. Early voting is currently available in most municipalities through Friday.
For the past several months, Wisconsin Family Action and Wisconsin Family Council have been all-hands-on-deck pursuing numerous Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts. WFC even hired 13 part-time staffers to call every evangelical church in Wisconsin to equip their church to engage in the election. We’ve currently called over 2,300 evangelical churches in the state to offer our Honor God with Your Vote Election Toolkit. Last week, WFC attended the Christian Home Educators of Wisconsin (CHEW) convention to share about the importance of this election with thousands of homeschool parents.
On Thursday, Justice Rebecca Bradley joined WFC at the CHEW conference to encourage over 2,700 attendees to make an impact in the election by exercising their right to vote. On Friday, over 500 people attended our candidate forum with Judge Brad Schimel (we also invited Susan Crawford; unfortunately, she did not attend) to learn more about the candidates’ judicial philosophies.
Although the lead-up to this election has been heavily focused on the state Supreme Court race, please be prepared to cast a vote for the next State Superintendent of Public Instruction as well. The race is between incumbent Jill Underly, who is rated as liberal by iVoterGuide, and challenger Brittany Kinser, who is rated as moderate by iVoterGuide. A constitutional amendment seeking to enshrine Voter ID laws into the state’s constitution will also be on the ballot, in addition to other local elections. By the way, did you know that liberal judge Susan Crawford fought against Voter ID as an attorney? Click here to see what else will be on your ballot.
We say it every election, but it’s especially true for this one – your vote matters, and your vote makes a difference. Please make a plan to vote on election day and encourage your friends and family to do so as well. Visit myvote.wi.gov for election information.
