It will ensure that students will be taught about the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. Students will also engage in comparative discussions of governing philosophies around the world such as communism, socialism and totalitarianism compared to the founding principles of freedom and democracy we hold so dear in the United States.

Most people reading this probably don't even remember what life was like before 9/11/2001. I know it is hard to believe how dramatically our lives have changed since that day of infamy.
It is incredibly difficult and sometimes very uncomfortable to articulate the sheer terror that many of us felt on that day. We heard about the terrible attacks. We watched the buildings crumble on our televisions.
This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. There is no question that it was one of the darkest days in American history. But in the days that followed 9/11, Americans of all backgrounds, colors, and religions banded together to support our first responder heroes and help uplift our nation.
Every American president enters office facing certain realities and enormous responsibilities. The job is to acknowledge the realities and accept the responsibility of trying to improve the situation. Unfortunately, President Biden has demonstrated an uncanny ability to make matters worse. To date, his administration is marked by a string of self-inflicted disasters: the border crisis, out-of-control spending and growing debt, and now the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The message from local Democrats conducting County Board redistricting seems to be do as I say not as I do. In April of 2019 local Dems who control the La Crosse County Board voted to place a non-binding referendum on the ballot. The referendum asked voters if they favor a non-partisan commission to draw voting districts at the state and federal level. Now County Board Chairwoman Monica Kruse has packed the local redistricting committee with Democrats.
