Clean Water Hypocrisy

The La Crosse County Board Executive Committee has approved a non-binding referendum for the April 5th ballot. The referendum will ask if the state of Wisconsin should establish a right to clean water.

Hundreds of wells in the Town of Campbell are contaminated with cancer causing PFAS from the use of firefighting foam at the City of La Crosse owned airport. Residents are being provided bottled water at a cost of about $500,000 per year by the State of Wisconsin.

On behalf of my Wisconsin Assembly Republican colleagues, I would like to say Merry Christmas to you and your family, and wish you a very Happy New Year!

2021 was a year in which we persevered and undoubtedly come out stronger and more focused on community. We were so glad to be back helping our constituents and meeting with businesses in our districts.

It’s an honor to serve you and thank you for choosing each of us to represent you.

Building Back Broke

The second most expensive part of President Biden's Build Back Better was an opportunity for central states to subsidize high tax states. The bill allowed residents in poorly managed states to shift from deducting up to $10,000 to deducting up to $80,000 on their federal return.

The benefit to anybody earning $50,000? Property and income tax could hardly approach $10,000. There is $0 benefit for this person as the additional $70,000 is not available to deduct.

How Economies Work

Kellogg’s workers are on strike for higher wages and benefits. Bernie Sanders told the striking workers it was good for them to stand up to corporate greed. Why not tell them to go find a job that they can make more money and with better benefits. So far, in America we are free, and can make our own decisions on who we work for.

Governor Draws New Maps in Secret

This week Governor Evers submitted new maps to the Wisconsin Supreme Court as part of the case involving the redistricting process in Wisconsin (Johnson v. Wisconsin Elections Commission).

Bipartisan supermajorities in both legislative chambers rejected maps drawn by the governor’s People’s Maps Commission. Now, Governor Evers has abandoned his campaign rhetoric promising independently-drawn maps to rapidly and secretly draw his own rigged maps without public input. The hypocrisy of the governor is impossible to ignore.

The Stench of Political Corruption in Local Municipalities

I’d like to draw your attention to the attachment in a recent City of Onalaska Common Council meeting agenda where it lists the Election Official nominations for the coming election cycle. As you can see in that document, Republicans spent a great deal of time following Wisconsin state law and properly submitting their list of election workers.

Victory for the American People

We hope you are having a happy and healthy Holiday Season as we prepare to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year.

The American people notched another victory this week as a Federal judge blocked the last of President Biden’s vaccine mandates for businesses, saying the President exceeded his authority with his requirement that would have forced millions of employees of federal contractors to get the jab.

Serious Concerns in Holmen School District

Several subscribers of CouleeConservatives.com who reside in Holmen and send their children to the schools in that district have brought their serious concerns to our attention.

First, Dr. Kristin Mueller who leads the administration, appears to be promoting racism among the staff by encouraging attendance at workshops such as “Cultivating Cultural Empathy to Overcome White Supremacy Thinking.” Note the school staff calendar promoting the event as ‘Flexible Staff Development’ time.

no higher purpose

Government has no higher purpose than defending the most vulnerable members of our society—especially the unborn.

This week the Supreme Court heard arguments on the most consequential abortion case since Roe v. Wade. The case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, presents the court with the opportunity to overturn Roe and correct what many believe to be the most egregious act of judicial arrogance in Supreme Court history.
