The big news in the main street media recently was that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey had sent a bill for $530,000 to the Trump campaign to cover the extra security costs for the President’s October 10th visit to the Target Center in Minneapolis. There are a couple of questions that need to be asked.
In an executive order this week, Governor Evers called the Wisconsin State Legislature into a special session on gun control on November 7. The following is the statement that I released to the media in response to his executive order.
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on this plan" All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
On October 8th Governor Tony Evers signed Executive Order #50 “Relating to Declaring Indigenous Peoples Day” which declared the second Monday in October to be the Indigenous Peoples Day in Wisconsin. The Executive Order made no mention that the second Monday of October is now one of ten recognized federal holidays that has been officially celebrated for over eighty years after a Proclamation by Congress and President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
It was simply incredible to have the "First Responders of the Year" from nearly every Assembly District in our chambers on Thursday. The first-of-its-kind recognition ceremony proved to be a remarkable display of some of the most courageous and dedicated individuals in our state. The Assembly honored 99 award recipients who truly represent all first responders in Wisconsin.
For forty or more years the State of Wisconsin has had a “no-fault” divorce system which for all practical purposes became a “no-contest” system as well. This involved changing from the traditional divorce system involving fault and contest. Currently, Wisconsin law requires a six month waiting period for divorced parties before they can marry again. Now there are two bills being worked on in the State Capitol that would remove any waiting period whatsoever!
Remember a dozen or more years ago when a Democrat candidate for President flip-flopped on a crucial issue of the day and was accused of “being against right before he was for it”. Or, maybe it was he was “for it right before he was against it”. There have been some recent happenings that bring that situation back to mind.
