Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving
I'm excited to take break, step away from my daily routine, and spend some much needed time with my family. For me, this special holiday couldn't come at a better time. I have so much to be thankful for, both personally and professionally. I hope you will join me by gathering with your loved ones and taking some time to step away from your busy life and appreciate everything God has provided us with.
While my family's year wasn't filled with weddings and graduations, I am thankful for a happy and healthy family. My nieces, nephews, and step children are all a blessing.
As many of you know, I am a citizen legislator. When I'm not in the Capitol, I operate a variety of businesses in southeastern Wisconsin. I'm thankful for my amazing employees who do a great job managing the day-to-day when I'm working in Madison. Success would not be possible without their hard work and I couldn't do it without them.
I'm thankful to have once again been elected to represent you. After two recall attempts and a primary election, I'm honored to have once again earned your trust. Weeks ago, I was elected Speaker by the Republican caucus and will lead our majority this upcoming session. Ever since I was a young man, I continue to believe in the importance of strong, conservative government in our statehouse. Small government, lower taxes, and individual liberties create opportunity for all. I'm thankful for the opportunity I've had to enact and advocate for these principles as a legislator and speaker.
Looking ahead, I'm thankful for a strong Republican majority to continue our work. Once again, we will have split government in Madison. Maybe next year I will be thankful to have a Republican governor in office.
Enjoy the holiday weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!
