Letter to Wisconsin State Senate Regarding Senate Bill 336

I am unable to attend the public hearings for this bill but this matter is very important to me so thank you for reading this letter instead.

I am employed as a Senior Lead Software Engineer by one of the largest technology companies on Earth and was recently notified that I must provide proof of vaccination in order to receive a paycheck. If I choose not to comply, I am told that I will be placed on unpaid leave of absence. This appears to be a ‘soft firing’ which, I suspect, allows the corporation to avoid certain HR legal dilemmas but would force me to become penniless. As I see it, I can either comply or starve. What kind of choice is that?

My greatest concern about this practice, if it is allowed to proceed, is the precedent that it sets for future violations of personal privacy.

Let me be 100% clear: I AM NOT AGAINST THE VACCINE - I AM AGAINST THE MANDATES.

What will happen if it becomes acceptable to force everyone to surrender their sensitive personal medical information as a condition of employment?

Will companies force employees to surrender details about past sexually transmitted diseases they may have been treated for?

Will companies force employees to surrender details about mental wellness treatments they may have taken?

This is a major violation of our personal privacy rights and I am very concerned about the precedent that these vaccine mandates set and I ask that the Wisconsin legislature pass this bill in order to protect employees.

This is so well said, that it fits my Constitutional view perfectly. We are free in America, at least we are supposed to be. I am fully vaccinated, and I think it is the lesser of evils, but we should not be forced by anyone or any government official to get vaccinated. I admire the people who stand up for their rights and not give into this tyranny. If they come and tell me that I must give up my guns, I will not, even if my life is at stake. Freedom is why America has survived. The few of us left with the courage to resist the mandates that violate our freedoms, must stand together.

As a Sr. software engineer, you may have difficulty finding a similar job. But for many of us, we can and should develop alternatives. For example the doctors and nurses who are fired, should form their own clinics.

Kids can't go to school because of mandates and your objections? Either home school, find private alternatives, or find other parents and pool resources to start your own school.

Maybe you could form your own practice and work as a contractor, doing the same thing you do now, but as an independent contractor? I know it will be difficult for many, but as for me, I WILL NOT COMPLY! Made easier because my only bills are current expenses, and no kids at home, and I can make it with minimal income if I have to.

... many are exploring a third option: working within the corporate bureaucracy to educate leadership why pursuing this mandate will be very bad for business. For example, how will the market react when thousands of the best and brightest suddenly get let go and our clients are left with no one keeping their systems running? And, isn't it a form of bullying to force employees to surrender sensitive personal medical information in exchange for their paycheck? How can an ethically minded company condemn bullying and yet participate in it at the same time? Interestingly, these tactics are making some progress because the 'mandate' which was originally set for early December mysteriously got moved to mid-January and now we are informed compliance is mandatory by mid-February....
