Blistering Audit of MPS
The audit’s findings are a blistering testament to MPS's gross mismanagement of resources, the educational hardship and struggles faced by Milwaukee students, and the blind eye turned by DPI under Jill Underly.
Restoring public trust in the state’s largest district is crucial. I applaud Governor Evers for taking swift action to order this audit which Superintendent Underly should have done months ago. With the achievement gap growing annually in Wisconsin and only five percent of Black students proficient in reading, a plan to fix MPS’s institutional failures is long overdue.
Our kids deserve SO MUCH better, and we need strong leadership at the helm of DPI to ensure that children are at the center of every decision, and to steer MPS as they implement these critical recommendations. As the next DPI Superintendent, I will set up an office in Milwaukee dedicated to supporting MPS's efforts to become structurally, financially, and educationally sound, so every child can go to college, find a meaningful job, or master a trade.

Many Milwaukee Schools have severe issues.
Public education needs to change so many things completely. Kinser can help, but they need to go a whole new direction. Once they eliminate the Department of Education at the federal level, with all of its expensive and inefficient mandates, there is hope if they make some hard decisions.
