Biden’s Failure at Our Southern Border

President Biden recently announced an executive order to “close” the border that will still allow anywhere from 1,500 to 2,500 illegal aliens to enter the U.S. per day. This is far too little, far too late from the president who has continuously refused to secure our borders throughout his time in office.

The American people know that border security is national security, and the best way to secure our borders is by implementing policies that support Border Patrol agents, end catch-and-release, and strengthen and streamline the asylum process. Instead of implementing an ineffective executive action that will do almost nothing to secure our borders, President Biden should encourage the Senate to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, the strongest border security bill in history that the House passed over a year ago.

Under President Biden’s disastrous border policies, there have been:

  • Over 7.8 million illegal immigrant encounters at the southern border
  • Over 9.5 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide.
  • 1.8 million known gotaways who evaded U.S. Border Patrol

I refuse to give up on securing our borders. I will continue working alongside my Republican colleagues in the House to pass meaningful legislation that directly addresses the problems we have at our borders and puts the safety of Americans first.
