Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund PAC announced their endorsement of former Lancaster Mayor David Varnam on Tuesday for lieutenant governor. Matt Sande, Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund PAC, called Varnam “an excellent choice for pro-life voters in the upcoming primary and general elections.”

“I want to thank Pro-Life Wisconsin Victory Fund PAC for endorsing me for Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor. Pro-life Wisconsin has been a strong advocate for the unborn,” stated Varnam.

I hope you had a wonderful Easter. Our family celebrated the promise of new life at church, and then we enjoyed having aunts, uncles, and cousins at our house for Easter brunch and an egg hunt (as usual, it was delicious food, but I’ll spare you the pics). I hope you had a wonderful day as well!

I’m happy to have the support of Sheriff David Clarke and so many other law enforcement leaders from throughout Wisconsin in this gubernatorial campaign. I greatly appreciate their counsel and advice as we work together to re-establish law and order in Wisconsin.

We have a savage maniac loose in the world, now that Putin has threatened nuclear war, if anyone tries to stop him. I guess there are no limits, and no one has stepped up to stop him. Putin is doing exactly what he wants to do, and he will continue, he will move to his next domino and then the next and then the next. No one will stop him as he says that there will be unimaginable consequences, and that threat is nuclear weapons.

Reminder, Tax Day is April 18th and it's right around the corner.

If you’ve filed your taxes already, you may have seen a larger than expected tax refund. Your lower tax bill is the result of Republicans passing the largest tax cut in state history, which cut the typical Wisconsin family’s income tax liability by $900 over the two-year budget—in addition to property tax relief and reducing burdensome taxes on our local businesses.

The Van Orden for Congress campaign is today announcing that Derrick raised more than $900,000 in the first quarter of 2022, continuing to display the overwhelming support that he has received throughout his campaign to be the next Congressman of Wisconsin’s 3rd District.

The campaign currently has $1.8 million cash on hand an is poised to continue building on that as November approaches.

Derrick Van Orden released the following statement accompanying the fundraising announcement:

Replacing Judge Romana Gonzales

After 27 years on the La Crosse County Circuit Court bench, Judge Romana Gonzales is leaving. One news source reported “resigned” while two others said “retiring” so let’s assume she is resigning to retire. Judge Gonzales came to La Crosse in 1981 and was in private law practice until she became the first female judge in La Crosse County in 1995. Over the years she had various leadership roles in both state and national judicial organizations. In 2010 she was an unsuccessful candidate for District IV of Wisconsin’s Court of Appeals.

State Legislative Redistricting – a Story of Two Counties

Since the United States Supreme Court correctly rejected Governor Evers’ inappropriately drawn redistricting legislative maps and scolded the Wisconsin Supreme Court for not doing the same, most or all of the discussion has centered on the Milwaukee area stretching east to western Dane County. There are serious problems in the Coulee Region in western Wisconsin as well.

UW System Student Free Speech Survey Delayed

I was disappointed to see that the UW System has delayed a survey on students' perception of free speech and freedom of expression on UW System campuses.

The survey, meant to be released this week, aimed to understand the troubling trend of suppressed free speech on college campuses throughout our state. Due to this delay, the survey will now be released this fall.
The survey will attempt to answer the following questions:

Spring Election Day Edition

With three already completed, over the weekend we joined four of the five remaining RPW Congressional District Committees for their caucuses. This past snowy Saturday took us from the Second in Madison, to the Fourth in Milwaukee, and ended with the Sixth in Plymouth. We capped off the weekend by joining the First in Kenosha. I've been saying this since I joined this race, but the grassroots energy and momentum is fully behind us. Once polls close this evening, I am hopeful, just like you, to see the beginning signs of a Red Wave coming this November!
