What happened to the party of JFK?

President John F. Kennedy was a remarkable person; he took the bull by the horns and inspired America. I was 11 years old when he was assassinated and remember that day like it was yesterday. Kennedy gave us a mandate; “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." What a great concept, that mentality made America great. Everyone pitching in, working hard, taking personal responsibility, providing for ourselves and our families.

Kennedy gave us another challenge; as a country we were going to reach the moon in just a few short years. That goal was almost inconceivable, but we did it, it was an astonishing accomplishment. They were common people who were determined to make things happen. No obstacle was too big, we could work hard and take care of ourselves and we did.

What happened to Kennedy's Democrat party? That Democrat party has changed direction. There are some who think we need to take America in the direction of socialism and while it is good to help someone who needs help, they need to be willing to work as hard as the rest of us, and when they do, we can all benefit from this great country. America has not always been perfect, but we must continue to strive to preserve our Constitution, that has led to the longest running Republic in history.

I would like to encourage all descendants of the great Americans who voted for Kennedy to take a look at the big picture and consider who will give your grandchildren a more stable country; with opportunities to make a good living and a secure life. The modern Democrat has taken the idea that we can take from the general tax fund and help everyone; history shows that will not work. We need an opportunity for everyone to get ahead, but not at the expense of others. Like President Kennedy told us; "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." This election is not about us; this is about our children, their future, and the future of our country!

John F. Kennedy was a great president, unfortunately he is gone, and so is that Democrat party.

JFK's Democratic Party began to deteriorate the day he was assassinated. I too remember that day like it was yesterday. As A high school junior I was going to football practice when a teacher hollered out the window "Go lower the flag. The President was shot!"

Kennedy had picked Senator Lyndon B. Johnson to be his running mate to balance the ticket. JFK was a conservative Democrat from Massachusetts and Johnson was a liberal Democrat from Texas. Johnson had also finished second in the Democratic Presidential Primaries that year.

As President, Johnson gave us the Great Society which seemed to answer the question "What can your country do for you?" Also, the Viet Nam War could easily be called "Mr. Johnson's War". He did not run for a second full term for fear of failure. Thus commenced the initial deterioration and destruction of the Democratic Party.

Kennedy was a Catholic, but today's Democrats are faulting the Supreme Court nominee for being Catholic. Kennedy was one of nine siblings, but today's Democrats are faulting the Supreme Court nominee for having seven children to include two by adoption.

If the Democratic Party gains control in Washington, two of the major changes they want to make are doing away with the Electoral College and packing the Supreme Court. Being from relatively small Massachusetts, I doubt President Kennedy would have changed the Electoral College and being s student of history, he probably wouldn't have touched the Supreme Court either.

I will close by quoting the original article: "This election is not about us; this is about our children, their future, and the future of our country! John F. Kennedy was a great president, unfortunately he is gone, and so is that Democrat party."

I just looked up the Democrat Party in my old World Book Encyclopedia, I am amazed to see what they stood for, yes that party is gone. Now I can see what the great Ronald Reagan said, "he did not leave the Democrat Party, they left him."
