Transparency and Accountability

Under the current administration, Wisconsin has become less accountable and less transparent; Rep. Tony Kurtz (Wonewoc) and I have introduced two bills to reverse that trend.

The first bill would reinstate the requirement that state agencies develop publicly available on-line dashboards to report the performance of their core functions. Governor Walker first ordered the creation of these dashboards in 2016, but the current administration has abandoned the practice.

The second bill would create an on-line dashboard to track the spending of federal stimulus dollars in Wisconsin. Our neighbors in Illinois already have a robust interactive dashboard that allows the public to track spending by agency, fund, zip code and month down to the cent. Meanwhile, Wisconsin has only a graphic with colorful circles which lists the amount allocated, but not how much of the allocated funds have been spent, or on what.

These on-line dashboards will restore transparency and will help Wisconsinites better understand what the government is doing with our money and how it's handling its responsibilities.
