I wanted to make sure you saw the statement that Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and I put out in response to Governor Evers and legislative Democrats' press conference on anti-gun legislation. During that media event, the governor said he would consider mandatory gun buybacks, which is unacceptable.

I appreciate that many people immediately responded through social media to our joint statement. Here's one response that I received from a mother from southeastern Wisconsin:

"Thank you for standing up for our rights and continuing to find ways to increase school safety."

While my Democratic colleagues promote a far-left agenda, we'll continue to work to find bipartisan solutions to improve the safety in our communities and the mental health system. I look forward to receiving the recommendations from the Speaker's Task Force on Suicide Prevention in the coming weeks.
