Parental Bill of Rights
Assembly Republicans voted yes on the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing, education, health care, and mental health of their children. The legislation makes it clear what rights parents have and what expectations school boards and school districts are required to meet. The bill specifies 16 rights a parent has of their child, which include the following:
- Requires notice and opt-out choice for certain educational topics; affirms the legal right of a parent to direct the education of their child
- Requires notice of health care services offered at the school; affirms parent’s right to make healthcare decisions for their child
- Ensures parents may review educational materials and afford access to learning material, and allows parental visits with the child during school hours
- Expands notification to parents about student safety and incidents of violence on school grounds
- Ensures parents are the ones who determine the names and pronouns used for their child while at school
Too many parents have been ignored by school personnel, and school boards when they’ve expressed interest or concern about the educational programming of their child. Assembly Republicans are committed to giving parents the tools they need to have an active role in their child's education.

Why did we need to do this?
Thanks to some level-headed people willing to stand up and define who is in charge of our children. That is the parent's responsibility assuming they are stable parents. Those working against this are very misguided or have no decency standards, and they end up further confusing our children.
