The Best Way To Prevent School Shootings Is Armed Staff
My colleague at work wrote the following article that was published by the Federalist and I wanted to share with you...
In the wake of tragic school shootings like Apalachee High School in Georgia, our nation grapples with a critical question: How do we best protect our children?
Sadly, too often, the debate devolves quickly into partisan talking points. The Biden-Harris administration seized on this tragedy to call for more laws that would restrict Americans’ right to self-defense, but which would have done nothing to stop this shooting. In fact, at both the federal and state levels, it is already illegal for a 14-year-old to purchase and possess a firearm, but, neither those laws nor others, like the Gun-Free School Zones Act, deterred this evil.
More recently on the debate stage, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris attempted to amend her clear anti-gun record, despite previously voicing support for confiscating guns as a candidate in 2020.
It’s crucial to set politics aside and approach this debate with facts.

Are you afraid of guns or people who have them?
If you are, you are not alone, but please try to read and understand what I am about to say. You likely don't know this but there are millions of people in America who are very capable with their guns. They are all around us and are in many cases as valuable as law enforcement, sometimes more, because they are where a shooter or crisis might happen.
Many of these people don't discussed their training and ability, as they know you don't understand the tools that they have available if needed. An armed police officer is a visible target, and easily taken out by a shooter or terrorist, and then that leaves the entire school an open target with no one able to stop them. I can guarantee your school has capable people who could be a huge surprise to one of these terrorists if we let them.
I once testified at a State of Wisconsin public hearing on allowing concealed carry. This was in a large school in northern Wisconsin, I waited in line to testify and the lady in front of me was called to offer her testimony and she did. She started by saying she was from an antiviolence group and then stated all the reasons guns are bad and no one should have them. They had to interrupt her as she was well-rehearsed and rambled on. They then called me up and I was only ten feet away so I stepped up to the microphone and she was still there trying to talk, I respectfully grabbed the mic and said, I can change that person's mind in 5 seconds, and she gave me a stern look and I said to her. "If a terrorist came into this gymnasium through that door over there 100 feet away and started shooting people, and I was armed, would you want me to stop him before he shot you?" I pressed her for an answer but did not get one, but I knew the answer.
So while we can't all agree, we must make a decision, and my perspective is we need capable people in schools. By the way, many shooters are cowards and avoid places where people can defend themselves.
The only thing...
...that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. When will our society embrace this simple fact of life and allow responsibly armed citizens to help defend ALL of our institutions? I have been practicing self defense with and without firearms for decades. Whenever I have to disarm before entering a 'Gun Free Zone' I text my spouse as a reminder to sue the living sh!t out of every level of that organization because they won't let me defend my own life at their facility should I be harmed in an attack. Note to business owners everywhere: when you hang that useless sign or sticker on your facility you are taking on 100% responsibility for my safety. Wouldn't it be smarter to just let me defend myself?
Excellent points Amigo!
One more point on those "No Guns Signs" What those signs say is that this is a good place to rob, rape, or terrorize, as no one here can defend themselves.
