As we get ready to welcome 2025 and the 119th Congress, I want to take a moment to share my legislative work over the past two years. My number one priority is to best serve the people of Wisconsin’s Third District, so if you have any thoughts, concerns, or ideas you’d like to share with me, I encourage you to contact one of my offices.

In my first term in Congress, I was proud to introduce or sign on as a cosponsor of 351 total bills, 48 of which have passed the House. The purposes of these bills range from improving VA services for veterans, strengthening our agriculture industry, modernizing our nation’s transportation and infrastructure, supporting our men and women in uniform, and more.

Some of the bills that I have introduced or cosponsored that have passed the House include:

  • Autism CARES Act, which has been signed into law, to reauthorize several programs that support autism education, research, and resources
  • Securing Chain of Command Continuity Act, which requires all members of the National Security Council to report any medical incapacitation within 24 hours to preserve the U.S. military chain of command
  • Public Buildings Accountability Act, which was included in the FY24 WRDA package that has been signed into law, to require government agencies to create a detailed report about how their federal buildings are used and managed
  • Warrior Call Resolution to encourage the connecting of members of the Armed Forces to support structures necessary to transition from the battlefield
  • VETT Act, which addresses unnecessary barriers that veterans face while trying to access their educational benefits, ensuring a more effective transition to civilian life
  • Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act to protect consumer choice by restricting the EPA from issuing any waiver for new regulations that would ban the sale or use of new motor vehicles with internal combustion engines
  • Parents Bill of Rights Act, which to establishes various rights of parents and guardians regarding the public elementary or secondary school education of their children
  • Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act to overturn the federal decision to restrict milk options in schools and give students the freedom to choose flavored or unflavored whole, reduced-fat, or fat-free milk
  • Social Security Fairness Act, which is on the President’s desk waiting to be signed into law, to overturn a harmful restriction of Social Security that prevented seniors with pensions from receiving their full retirement benefits
  • Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserves Tuition Fairness Act to establish parity between reservists and active-duty personnel by requiring public higher education institutions to charge the same in-state tuition rates for veterans using MGIB-SR as veterans using other GI Bill programs

I personally introduced 32 pieces of legislation in the House of Representatives. In addition to the standalone bills I introduced, I’m also proud to have many of my provisions and priorities included in packages such as the Water Resources Development Act, National Defense Authorization Act, and the House Agriculture Committee’s version of the Farm Bill. As a Member on the House Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, and Transportation and Infrastructure committees, I’m continuously working to find solutions to the issues that matter most to the folks I represent.

Despite political and legislative differences in Washington, there are many opportunities for Republicans and Democrats to work together to deliver real results for the American people. In the 118th Congress, I worked across the aisle with my Democrat colleagues and signed on as a cosponsor of 227 bipartisan bills. Out of the 321 bills I cosponsored, over 70% are bipartisan with at least one Democrat sponsor or cosponsor.

I’m proud of what we’ve completed this year, and I’m looking forward to a new set of accomplishments in the 119th Congress. I want you to know that I remain committed to delivering real results for the people of Wisconsin’s Third District and will ensure that you and your families are being best represented in Washington.

I don't think it is possible, but Van Orden is on the path to restoring more than we lost in the massive erosion we had under the Wrong Kind.
