I had the pleasure this week of joining Representative Tony Kurtz to take a tour of one of the opioid treatment centers operated by Community Medical Services.

CMS is a leading provider of treatment for individuals suffering from opioid use disorder. Their approach allows them to optimize treatment outcomes by helping patients achieve stability and focus on their recovery.

WI Supreme Court Hearing on Abortion

Last Monday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard arguments for and against enforcing the state’s pre-Roe law prohibiting most abortions, known as Statute 940.04. The law was nullified by Roe v. Wade but was never revoked by the legislature or voters. After the Dobbs decision returned the abortion issue to the states, the law was immediately put back into place and abortion providers in Wisconsin ceased actively killing the unborn. The law states that it is illegal to provide an abortion and clarifies that actions taken to save the life of a mother in an emergency are exempt from the law.

The settlement resolves a civil environmental enforcement action against the company for alleged violations of its air pollution control permit and state air pollution control regulations for the company’s operation of a wood-fired boiler in La Crosse County, Wisconsin.

On Monday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard arguments for and against enforcing the state’s pre-Roe law prohibiting most abortions. The law was nullified by Roe, but was never revoked by the legislature or voters. After the Dobbs decision returned the abortion issue to the states, the law was immediately put back in place. In a Circuit Court ruling in Dane County, it was ruled that Statute 940.04 regarding "abortion" actually didn't relate to abortion but to feticide.

I am humbled and honored that my colleagues have once again put their trust in me to serve as president pro tempore of the Wisconsin State Senate.

I was first elected to the role in November of 2020 and succeeded Senator Howard Marklein, who is the current co-chair of the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee.

Please know that I remain committed to carrying out the duties of the position with fairness, civility and respect.

Will This Election Cycle Change America?

What happens after this election cycle might change America in ways none of us could have of ever imagined.

Some people believe no matter which candidate wins the presidency that there will certainly be civil unrest. That a state of mental illness will ensue that will be unmatched by any time in the country’s past history.

Why is that?

Division? Hate? Media manipulation?

After November Comes April

The dust has not settled on the November elections. I have not heard Senate Candidate Eric Hovde’s plan of action after an apparent razor thin loss to incumbent Senator Baldwin other than he has publicized a dozen legitimate questions that need answers. One question concerns the 4:30 am (Wednesday) ballot drop in Milwaukee that changed Hovde’s seemingly insurmountable lead to trailing the incumbent. Another question involves the shady democrat support for the two third party candidates that allegedly drew support away from Hovde.
