WI Congressman Introduces Bill Supporting Marriage
Wisconsin’s Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-CD 6) is working with a group of bi-partisan representatives from various states to pass the “Student Loan Marriage Penalty Elimination Act.” Currently, married couples receive a maximum tax deduction of $2,500 on student loan interest, while those who are unmarried can receive the same amount individually. The new act would remedy this unfair situation by ensuring that both husbands and wives can receive the maximum tax benefit if they are otherwise eligible.
Countless studies have confirmed that marriage is good for those who are married, their children, and society. So, our laws should never unfairly disadvantage those who choose to marry. Public officials who want to see our communities, state, and nation flourish should support policies that incentivize this foundational institution.

Great Idea Glenn!
Just a bit of info for those of you who don't know Glenn. I was at the election party in Eau Claire, Wi on November 7, 2006. I spent 5 hours with Glenn Grothman, as we were both hoping for a good night, and it was not.
But my conversations with Glenn were shockingly interesting. He is 100 percent for real and 100 percent serious. He is driven by what we think of as Conservatism. He is not a smiley politician—he is the opposite. He is not fun, but count on him when you need him. Glenn is the poster boy for saving America and is no-nonsense.
