I had the privilege this week of testifying in front of the Assembly Committee on Health, Aging and Long-Term Care on my bipartisan bill that would help our first responders better treat those suffering from anaphylactic shock.

Joining me were my Assembly co-author, Rep. Scott Krug; Mark and Cristin Mueller, the parents of the late Andrew Mueller; Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker; and other advocates.

Paying it Forward

Paying it forward is when the beneficiary of a good deed is repaying that kindness to another. Or, it may be performing an act of kindness with no intention of receiving anything in return. In today’s world, an example of paying it forward might be paying a fast food order for the vehicle behind you in the drive through lane.

What a fantastic day for chili, camaraderie, and community spirit! On behalf of the Friends of NRA, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this year’s Chili Cookoff at American Legion Post 336 such a great success. Thanks to your generosity and the Post’s hospitality, we grossed $1,594 and netted $1,415- double last year’s total! Every dollar raised supports youth shooting sports and teaches safe, responsible firearm handling to the next generation.

Praise God—since Wednesday, October 1, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin has paused abortions. That news should cause every one of us to stop and thank the Lord for His mercy and for the faithful advocates who continue to stand for life in our state. Unfortunately, there are still two abortion clinics operating in Milwaukee that are not affiliated with Planned Parenthood.

Ag and Revenue Public Hearing

Yesterday, the Senate Agriculture and Revenue Committee that I chair held a public hearing on several bills, one of which changes the eligibility requirements for the Agricultural Roads Improvement Program (ARIP).

Created by the Legislature in 2023, ARIP awards grant funding to local governments for the purpose of upgrading roadways that are essential for getting agricultural goods to market.

Senate Bill 443, which I have co-authored, would correct an unintended consequence that has emerged during the program's initial implementation.

Fixing the damage wreaked by the Wisconsin Supreme Court when it stripped the Legislature of its power to halt bureaucrats’ regulations will take a constitutional amendment, say legal experts — though reforms in statute can help in the interim.

That damage so far includes a rush of new regulations, including a 1,700 percent increase in state fees on livestock auctions and a complex, expensive wholesale revision of the state’s commercial building code.

The Washington Stand reports that a coalition of sixteen liberal attorneys general, including Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, are suing the Trump Administration for withholding the Personal Responsibility Education Program, or PREP, grant from states that include gender ideology in their sex education classes. The Administration of Children and Families, which controls the PREP grant, issued warnings to non-compliant states before rescinding the funds, but its warnings were ignored. The coalition claims the Administration’s actions are illegal.
