We are experiencing the worst border crisis in history under President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas. The disregard for the safety and security of the United States, as well as the refusal to uphold the rule of law, is appalling. With over 7 million illegal crossings at the southern border and 1.7 million gotaways evading U.S. Border Patrol since the Biden administration took office, Secretary Mayorkas has willfully and systemically refused to comply with federal immigration laws and has breached the public trust by violating his oath of duty to control and guard the border.

We Must Restore Order at Our Southern Border

In December 2023, 302,034 illegal immigrants were encountered at our southern border – the highest single month ever recorded in history. However, the Biden administration has continued to do nothing to close our southern border and protect the American people. In response to this continuously growing national security threat with no clear end in sight, the House Committee on Homeland Security will be leading articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for refusing to comply with the laws passed by Congress and breaching the public trust.

School Choice Week (January 21-28) was recently observed here in Wisconsin and around the country. It’s appropriate that we reflect on the critical role that educational choice plays in our state. School choice empowers parents and students, giving them the freedom to choose educational options that best suit their individual needs, aspirations, and personal and family values.

Evers vetoes his own maps

Last week, Republicans passed maps that were largely the same as those drawn by Governor Evers and submitted to the Supreme Court in the current redistricting case. The only changes made were to fit the most egregious gerrymanders drawn by the Governor, himself. There were several district lines that cut current representatives out of their district with razor-thin accuracy. One representative's home was cut out by 15 feet!

Visiting La Crosse

Last week, I spent a day in La Crosse where I had the opportunity to speak with constituents about issues that matter the most to them and how I can best work on their behalf.

Groundhog Day may be today, but it came early in Washington.

You would think that legislation deporting migrants who endanger the financial well-being of Americans by stealing their Social Security numbers, undermining public safety by driving drunk, or leading Border Patrol agents on potentially deadly high-speed chases would be no brainers, right?

Unfortunately, you would be wrong.
