In December 2023, 302,034 illegal immigrants were encountered at our southern border – the highest single month ever recorded in history. However, the Biden administration has continued to do nothing to close our southern border and protect the American people. In response to this continuously growing national security threat with no clear end in sight, the House Committee on Homeland Security will be leading articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for refusing to comply with the laws passed by Congress and breaching the public trust.

I visited the U.S.-Mexico border with over 60 of my House colleagues earlier this month, and what I saw was incredibly alarming. When I returned, I wrote this piece in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to share what I experienced during my trip to the southern border and what the Biden administration can do now to end this illegal immigration crisis today.
