Wisconsin Supreme Court Unanimously Refused to hear School Choice Lawsuit

The Wisconsin Supreme Court (SCOWIS) denied an original action petition seeking to end Wisconsin’s widely popular and successful school choice programs. Kirk Bangstad, the owner of the Minocqua Brewing Company Super PAC, funded the lawsuit to overturn the 1992 ruling now that the SCOWIS has a liberal majority.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) filed an amicus brief and a motion to intervene in a lawsuit seeking to overturn Wisconsin’s school choice programs. WILL’s motion was filed on behalf of 22 clients—representing parents of students enrolled in choice and charter schools, several schools across Wisconsin, and organizations that advocate for educational freedom.

Bangstad told the Wisconsin State Journal that he is not giving up and the suit will be filed in a lower court by early next year.

Earlier this year Bangstad was ordered to pay $750,000 in a defamation case. But as the National Review put it, this is "par for the course for Bangstad, a left-wing activist, local loudmouth, and conspiracy theorist."

I'm relieved the SCOWIS refused to hear this ridiculous lawsuit which if overturned, would have impacted tens of thousands of children, two-thirds of which are minorities and from low-income families.

Hereis an article from the Badger Institute on what would be at stake if he files another suit.

I guess this Bangstad fellow believes he's the parent of all Wisconsin kids.
