We were proud to host a press conference for Only Citizens Vote Week at the State Capitol on Constitution Day, Sept. 17. MacIver Institute CEO Annette Olson emceed the press conference that featured Congressman Tom Tiffany, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt and other members of law enforcement.

The press conference served to educate all those who reside in Wisconsin of the laws in place that ensure citizens' trust in the voting process for legal elections.

Today, I voted in favor of H.R. 9494, which included the SAVE Act – a bill that amends the National Voter Registration Act to require states to obtain documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration, utilize in-person identification for individuals to vote in a federal election, and require states to establish a program to remove non-citizens from their existing voter rolls.

Voting in federal elections is a special privilege granted to U.S. citizens. It is absurd that some of my colleagues would not want integrity instilled in the system they were elected through.

The main responsibility of our education system is to prepare our children to enter the workforce. Whether it be K-12, post-secondary, or workforce training, we must ensure students are set up for success and can meet the demands of their future careers. In Congress, I’m committed to reducing federal influence in our schools, ridding the system of political agendas, and lowering the cost of education for everyone.

As I continue to meet folks throughout the 32nd State Senate district, I hear about the cost of living and the impact inflation is having on families. That's why I am running for State Senate. Returning Wisconsin's multi-billion-dollar surplus to the taxpayers is the best way to help families afford basic necessities and offset the effects of inflation.

In this election season we need to study the issues and compare the candidates. A significant election in the Coulee Region is the one for the 3rd Congressional District Representative and an issue with many sub-plots affecting many people is education.
