Governor Evers' Plan for Road Funding: Deception and Obfuscation

Gov Evers and local Democrats must think we are stupid. The Governor brags that GTAs to La Crosse County are up $150,000. GTAs are calculated based on local spending so this is a misleading comparison to previous years in which local spending was down.

Remember the PRAT tax? Local Democrats told us they needed $5.5 million per year to fix our roads, so $150K is a joke.

State of the State

Governor Evers gave his second State of the State address tonight before a joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature. If I had to describe it in one word, I'd say it was disappointing. The following is my statement to the media:

“It’s disappointing that Governor Evers would rather pose for holy pictures than actually work with the legislature. His speech tonight was more about politics than anything else.

History and Redemption

While cleaning my bedroom this past week, I came across an old gift I received while I was in middle school. This particular gift happened to be a novel based on the Battle of Gettysburg.

Horrendous hatred for our fellow countrymen and egregious division among Americans became ever more abundant as my eyes scrolled down each page of the novel. However, one particular moment in this horrific three day battle truly stood out to me.

Democrats Play Politics Again

Democrats showed their true colors on Wednesday by not voting to override Governor Ever's veto of Assembly Bill 76, which addresses the skilled nursing shortage in Wisconsin. The bill would have aligned the state CNA instruction requirements with federal standards and bring students into the high-demand field faster.

Impeachment: “... not about the President,” but it is about precedent.

As the days and weeks pass since the partisan vote on the Articles of Impeachment for “obstruction of Congress” and “abuse of power,” the impact of that vote by the House of Representatives on Dec. 18, 2019, still stands. Whether the articles actually make it to the Senate or not, the history-making, purely partisan vote by the House Democrats will live on. It has set a precedent of political partisanship that our Founding Fathers dreaded, yet predicted, would happen.

Water Quality Task Force

The final report of the Speaker's Task Force on Water Quality was delivered to my office this week. The bipartisan, bicameral committee was created following a request from Reps. Todd Novak and Travis Tranel who were concerned with water in their area. The task force held 14 public hearings around the state last year. Members heard testimony from more than 70 stakeholder groups and hundreds of citizens. The report contained comprehensive recommendations, including 13 pieces of legislation that will be considered in the Assembly over the next few months.
