Democrats showed their true colors on Wednesday by not voting to override Governor Ever's veto of Assembly Bill 76, which addresses the skilled nursing shortage in Wisconsin. The bill would have aligned the state CNA instruction requirements with federal standards and bring students into the high-demand field faster.

As the days and weeks pass since the partisan vote on the Articles of Impeachment for “obstruction of Congress” and “abuse of power,” the impact of that vote by the House of Representatives on Dec. 18, 2019, still stands. Whether the articles actually make it to the Senate or not, the history-making, purely partisan vote by the House Democrats will live on. It has set a precedent of political partisanship that our Founding Fathers dreaded, yet predicted, would happen.

Water Quality Task Force

The final report of the Speaker's Task Force on Water Quality was delivered to my office this week. The bipartisan, bicameral committee was created following a request from Reps. Todd Novak and Travis Tranel who were concerned with water in their area. The task force held 14 public hearings around the state last year. Members heard testimony from more than 70 stakeholder groups and hundreds of citizens. The report contained comprehensive recommendations, including 13 pieces of legislation that will be considered in the Assembly over the next few months.
