Restoring Trust in Elections

This week, the Assembly sent a package of bills to the governor that will help restore trust in Wisconsin's elections process. Voting is one of the most important rights and responsibilities U.S. citizens have and it’s our duty to protect that constitutional right from being exploited.

In this last presidential election, there was indisputable evidence of irregularities right here in Wisconsin, so the Legislature took action to close loopholes, standardize procedures, establish uniformity, guarantee only the voter can correct their own ballot, and keep out-of-state billionaires from controlling election administration.

Public confidence was shaken with regard to the integrity and transparency of our elections; that’s why we prioritized making critical reforms. Voters need to feel their vote is safe and fairly counted. I am proud to support this series of bills to improve our future elections.

The package of legislation includes:

  • SB204 - Absentee Ballot Applications
  • SB205 - Voting in Long-Term Care Facilities
  • SB212 - Defects on Absentee Ballot Certificates
  • SB292 - Broadcasting Election Night Proceedings

I hear a lot about Vos in the news, and it is not positive. That is very disappointing, because today I saw a long detailed interview with him, and he was flawless. His speech, comments, politeness, and demeaner were perfect. He has a wonderful approach and we need to be sure to keep him in Madison. He has a hard job, competing with democrats is not so hard, but surviving the media is very hard.
