Assimilation
Not many years ago, if you wanted to be an American, you needed to agree to assimilate to American Constitution and way of life. This started when America was new and only recently became an apparent option.
To assimilate means to fully understand and absorb new information or to become fully integrated into a new culture, adopting its customs and ways
