Supporting School Choice

This week is National School Choice Week. As a father and a grandfather, I know just how important it is for parents to have the flexibility to choose where their child receives their education.

I believe that every child deserves access to a quality education, which is why I signed on as a cosponsor of the Educational Choice for Children Act. This bill will expand education freedom and opportunity for students by providing a charitable donation incentive for individuals and businesses to fund scholarship awards for students to cover expenses related to K-12 public and private education.

Earlier this Congress, I also proudly cosponsored and helped secure the House passage of the Parents Bill of Rights Act.

Specifically, the Parents Bill of Rights Act secures:

  • The right to know what’s being taught in schools and the reading material offered
  • The right to see the school budget and spending priorities
  • The right to protect their child’s privacy
  • The right to be heard by meeting with teachers
  • The right to be updated on any violent activity or safety concerns at school.

When parents’ voices are heard, our children are better off. In Congress, I’ll continue standing up for policies that support parents’ involvement in their child’s education and promote school choice so our students are set up to succeed.

The reality is that the election is right around the corner and many votes wont even happen. Get out and vote.
