Over the past several months we have told you about the blatant abuse of power, politicization, and weaponization going on at our federal agencies under President Joe Biden.

From using the Department of Justice to censor Americans on social media and labeling concerned parents as domestic terrorists, the Federal Bureau of Investigation using taxpayer dollars to bury the Hunter Biden laptop story, using the IRS to target and intimidate journalists, and attempting to cover up Hunter Biden’s tax case, to the Department of Agriculture threatening to withhold lunch money from children in need if schools don’t allow men to use the girls bathroom.

Whenever I talk to friends and neighbors, they always want to know what Congress is doing to push back on the Biden administration and when we are going to act – not just send another “strongly worded letter.”

Out of all the checks and balances Congress has on the executive branch, one of the most effective is the power of the purse because it gives us the ability to fund or defund the President’s agenda.

Next week when lawmakers return to Washington, we will have two weeks to pass something known as a continuing resolution, or a “CR,” that will continue to fund the government at our current spending levels and allow federal agencies to continue operating.

You’ve probably heard that old saying, put your money where your mouth is.

If lawmakers are serious about holding the Biden administration accountable for their actions, we shouldn’t pass a “clean” CR that gives them the funding to continue weaponizing our federal agencies.

Instead of rubber stamping a blank check to maintain the “status quo,” Congress should step up to the plate and use its authority over spending as a check on the executive branch abuses, to push for common-sense reforms, dismantle the two-tiered system of justice, and rein in rogue agencies.
