What I Saw at the Southern Border

On Friday, I visited the southern border near McAllen, Texas to witness first-hand the horrors of Joe Biden's border crisis. As the former Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, I've visited the border several times, most recently in March 2021. President Joe Biden has not visited the border as President.

I participated in a night tour with law enforcement and an aerial tour led by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). I also met with local landowners.

Every time I come here, I learn something new. I wish I could adequately convey, on a personal level, how profoundly disturbing it is.

  • We encountered two unaccompanied six and seven-year-old girls with just a piece of paper in a plastic bag with their birth certificates and an address and a phone number to connect them to somebody they know here in this country.
  • We saw the "taunting tree" or "rape tree". That's where human smugglers hang the panties of girls and women as a trophy.
  • Last year, we saw a dead body floating in the Rio Grande.
  • 3 million migrants have crossed the border since Joe Biden took office. Human traffickers are making $153 million a week. That translates to $18.3 billion per year.

Democratic politics are enriching some of the most evil people on the planet.

Democrats suffer from misplaced compassion, and that is giving the benefit of the doubt. When sincere, they open the borders thinking or hoping that is a positive thing. It in turn is a horrendous thing to do. Trump had cleaned up this mess and was soon to stop; the sad developments on immigration.

Ron Johnson is correct, this is an intentional disaster, and is a slap in the face to immigrants and Americans.
