Supreme Court Denies Petition in WI Parental Rights Case

Earlier this year, the Wisconsin Institute for Law (WILL) and Liberty alongside America First Legal (AFL) filed a lawsuit on behalf of an Eau Claire parents’ group that wanted to protect their children from the school district’s radical gender policies. This week the US Supreme Court narrowly denied a request to review the lower court’s dismissal of the case based on a lack of standing. The lower court asserted that the parents cannot challenge the policies until their children have been harmed by them. The merits of the case were never heard.

“Wisconsin Family Action strongly supports the rights of parents, and we are disappointed the Court has chosen to avoid this constitutional question behind a veil of lack of standing," WFA President Daniel Degner wrote in a press release. "Parents shouldn’t have to wait for their children to experience irreparable harm before the Court will hear their concerns. Policies allowing a student’s gender transition without the knowledge or consent of parents violate parents’ inherent, God-given rights and runs counter to the growing body of evidence that shows gender identity transitions during childhood causes more harm.”

While this news is disappointing, we know it is not the end of the line when it comes to fighting for parental rights in Wisconsin and across the US. WILL and AFL will continue to pursue other cases and routes to ensure parents rightfully maintain their ability to protect their children from the radical transgender policies overtaking America’s public schools.

Exposure to this entire mentality of radical gender policies is extremely harmful. To say they have not been harmed is an agenda-driven attack on our young people. It is an assault in so many ways, and the court needs people who know what is harmful to our children. This is so sad. We must vote for Brad Schimel for Supreme Court
