On Tuesday, President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order to protect children under the age of 19 from gender transitions, stating: “It is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.” The Order cites the risks of chemical and surgical mutilation, such as puberty blockers and any so-called “gender-affirming care” procedures.

“Countless children soon regret that they have been mutilated and begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or nurture their children through breastfeeding,” the Order reads.

We applaud President Trump's incredibly important action. We will continue to fight for similar legislation to pass here in Wisconsin. As the Order notes, these irreversible so-called “treatments” have lifelong consequences that the majority of children will come to regret in adulthood. Protecting the most vulnerable of society—children—is a foundational principle of our nation and we’re glad to see it upheld through this Order.
