Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Did you know that October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Month, and today is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day? As Christians, we uniquely believe in the intrinsic value of life from the moment of conception to natural death. We mourn with those who have lost a child.

Even in a culture that promotes induced abortions which actively take life, we still see a remnant of hope this month as society sees the need to support those who have lost a child through a miscarriage or stillbirth.

We are thankful that Governor Tony Evers signed a proclamation to honor those who have lost their lives in the womb. Incredibly, his proclamation for today declares: “The state of Wisconsin joins families, friends, and dedicated individuals and organizations across the state in honoring the memory and lives of those lost during pregnancy or infancy and showing encouragement and support for families forever [devastated] by their loss.” (emphasis added)

If you’re like me, you may have had to read that twice. The same governor who is currently asking the Wisconsin Supreme Court to create a constitutional right to kill unborn children in the womb also believes we should honor the memory of the lives lost during a miscarriage – not the embryos lost, but the lives lost.

The governor’s logical fallacy demonstrates how the pro-life ethic is the only consistent logical conclusion for the abortion issue. The preborn have value regardless of whether or not they are wanted or expected.

You may have seen advertisements floating around that suggest pro-life policies kill women who have ectopic pregnancies or other health complications. This dangerous rhetoric couldn’t be further from the truth.

On October 3, 2023, my wife and I lost our first child, Danni, to a miscarriage. Later, we learned it was an ectopic pregnancy in which my wife would need medical intervention to have the deceased baby removed from her fallopian tubes. When we lost our child, abortion in Wisconsin was illegal. Still, my wife was able to receive the appropriate treatment following her ectopic pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage. This demonstrates how false the narrative is that pro-life policies prevent women from receiving the treatment they need. They do no such thing. The pro-life movement cares deeply about the welfare of pregnant women and their unborn children because we know that all people, regardless of age, deserve the right to life.

Our story showcases that Wisconsin doesn’t need abortion until the ninth month of pregnancy to help mothers who experience ectopic pregnancies or other health issues related to their pregnancy. We will continue to advocate for the unborn while fighting the narrative that pro-life policies prevent life-saving treatments for mothers.

If you or a loved one has lost a child from a miscarriage or a stillbirth, please know that our family understands your hurt and pain. We pray that the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, will bring you comfort.

P.S. HERE is a devotional I used to help us through our miscarriage. HERE is the one my wife used.

P.P.S. With inspiration taken from Mark 9:29, our staff has been praying daily for our country and community every morning at 9:29 a.m. We invite you to join us every day until the election in prayer. You can see our daily prayer prompts HERE. Today our prompt is: Thank you Lord that as citizens in this country, we get to vote for those who govern. Pray that believers will vote in ways that reflect biblical values.

P.P.P.S. Early voting starts next week! Please vote early if you are unsure if you can vote on election day.

I said please mention next week that we need to vote for pro life candidates, and strongly suggest it would be hypocritical to vote for Pro abortion candidates. I then said, this might be a lot to ask, but if we don't speak up who will.

I almost feel guilty putting this much pressure on him, as some of us know what happened to Father Altman. If you would like to know what happened to him read this article.
