Pfaff not a good choice in the 32nd

As someone who was born and raised on a dairy farm in the Coulee Region I am deeply saddened by Senator Brad Pfaff’s stance on income tax. I was born in the mid 70’s and grew up on a dairy farm which at any given time milked between 45 and 50 head. Our barn had a combination of tie stalls and stanchions. My parents, who are now in their 80’s, raised three successful kids while making an income between 15-20K a year. I was a farm kid too.

Now living in the 32nd Senate district and listening to Senator Pfaff talk about how he grew up on a farm makes me wonder how involved he actually was. It’s one thing to grow up on a farm; it's another to actually work on one. For those retired farmers that raised families milking those small herds, by today's standards, my hat is off to you. You have my deepest respect and thank you! You deserve the tax breaks that were presented to the state legislature and declined by Brad Pfaff.

Pfaff seems to be running on his experience and knowledge in agriculture. But don’t forget he was the Secretary Designate of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection until the State Senate failed to confirm his appointment.

Pfaff seems more concerned with taxing the income of the wealthy in Madison and Milwaukee than helping the 32nd District. What I know of income tax, it is used by the state to fund pet projects and is usually misused. Very little comes back to the local communities. The successful people I know are some of the most generous people I could ever imagine. They donate to local charities and they help the communities they live in any way they can. Most importantly, they pay their property taxes which fund the local governments and a good portion of the public schools. So for anyone to target the income of the wealthy to fund their pet projects and not give seniors and middle class the much needed tax relief is despicable in my opinion.

Speaking of despicable, Pfaff mentions keeping money out of these races yet his campaign is running smear ads quoting a progressive talk radio station from Illinois. It is rumored that the Governor of Illinois has donated to his campaign. Makes me think of the farm girl running for Wisconsin’s 3 rd Congressional Representative that claims to be a political outsider but has raised thousands of dollars for Congressional candidates from coast to coast. Sure doesn’t sound like Senator Pfaff or this other candidate have western Wisconsin’s best interests in mind.

In the 32 nd State Senate election, Pfaff is not a good choice. Stacey Klein, the challenger, also grew up on a Coulee Region dairy farm which has been in her family since the mid-1800s. She is a professional financial advisor that understands the economic needs of Wisconsin’s families from many, many kitchen table discussions. As a recently re-elected Trempealeau County Board Supervisor, she also has a current working knowledge of the needs of local governments. In this election, Klein is the much better choice and will get my vote for 32 nd State Senate!

"Farm Kid Too" has valid points on the election of the next 32nd State Senator. Although I grew up rural non-farm in another state, I have lived in the Coulee Region for more than three decades and want to add a few thoughts to the discussion.

Pfaff is a career political operative and government bureaucrat while Klein has worked as a financial advisor. Seems we have too many of the Pfaff type and not enough of the Klein type in our state and federal legislatures.

Klein has siblings with experience in the Armed Forces and understands both the military and economic importance of nearby Fort McCoy.

Concerning Rep. Van Orden's opponent, I was in 4-H too but that alone hardly qualifies a person for Congress.

Both Pfaff and Van Orden's opponents seem to be in lock step with Harris-Walz while US Senator Baldwin is trying to distance herself from the Biden-Harris-Walz efforts.

Finally, in the debate between Pfaff and Klein it appeared that Klein wanted a constructive conversation while Pfaff was more combative. Just consider Pfaff's closing comments when he started shouting and made comments that Klein wasn't allowed to rebut. That outburst could be called a "cheap shot" so typical of his political party.

It is probably obvious by now, I plan to vote for both Klein and Van Orden. I also plan to vote for Trump-Vance, Hovde for US Senate, and Schnitzler in the 95th Assembly District.
