Liberty
“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
– 2 Corinthians 3:17
Does your family have a favorite holiday? Our family’s favorite holiday is Independence Day. There’s just something nostalgic about going to the small-town parade where my wife grew up and watching fireworks from the church parking lot. Our family loves Independence Day so much that my wife and I had a patriotic-themed wedding on July 3!
This week is an excellent opportunity for all of us to reflect on the sacrifices of those who died to give us liberty from tyranny and the blessings we have in this country. As Christians, we can take this time to reflect on the liberty that we have in Christ from the punishment of our sins.
Recently, a pastor told me the difference between liberty and freedom in the Scriptures. He explained that “liberty is paid for whereas freedom is what you receive.” Jesus’ death on the cross paid for the full magnitude of our sin debt. When we receive Christ in faith, we live in liberty that is fully paid for.
Wisconsin Family Action is fighting to preserve liberty for today and the generations to come. Central to our mission we exist to strengthen, preserve, and promote God’s plan for marriage, family, the sanctity of human life, and religious liberty. When we come together to speak God’s plan for these fundamental issues into the public square, we can preserve the liberties that have already been paid for. When we come together this election season and beyond, we can see a Wisconsin where God is honored, life is cherished, families thrive, and religious freedom flourishes.
Thank you again for your support of Wisconsin Family Action. We wish you and your family a safe and great Independence Day.
