It's time for the public to know just how much Josh Kaul has defunded the police at the DOJ

Our current Attorney General has left key DCI law enforcement positions unfilled up to nearly 25% and key criminal litigation prosecutor positions unfilled between 20% to 30% at our Department of Justice. I have called on Josh Kaul to let the public know just how much he has defunded the police at DOJ as we experience historic violence and a drug epidemic throughout Wisconsin where we need all available resources on hand to assist local law enforcement.

Brown County Sheriff Todd Delain said:

"It is disheartening to know that numerous Wisconsin Department of Justice law enforcement officers, investigators, and attorney positions have been left unfilled under the current Attorney General. Frontline law enforcement officers and District Attorneys' offices throughout the state need the support of the Wisconsin Department of Justice. That is why it is critical for change and that Eric Toney be elected the next Attorney General for the state of Wisconsin."

We need an Attorney General who will actually make public safety the number one priority here in Wisconsin and stand with our law enforcement to prosecute crime and enforce the rule of law.

The following law enforcement officials joined Toney for this morning's press conference:

  • Brown County Sheriff Todd Delain
  • Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban
  • Waupaca County Sheriff Tim Wilz
  • Winnebago County Sheriff John Matz
  • Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski
  • Sheboygan County Sheriff Cory Roeseler
  • Wisconsin National Trustee of the National Fraternal Order of Police Jerry Johnson
  • President of the Green Bay Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police Robert Messer
