A First Look at the 119th Congress
As your Congressman, my number one priority is taking the thoughts, concerns, and insights of those I represent to guide my decisions in Washington.
The 119th Congress is well underway, and I want to take a moment to update you on the legislative work I’ve been doing on your behalf.
Introduced Legislation
- Strengthening Servicemembers with Milk Act, which directs the U.S. Secretary of Defense to provide fluid or powdered milk to members of the Armed Forces at dining facilities on military installations
- Ag Vets Act to codify an existing program to award competitive grants to prepare veterans for agricultural employment opportunities
- Warriors to Workforce Act, which increases financial support for veterans in apprenticeships and on-the-job training programs
- Modernizing the Veterans On-Campus Experience Act to make improvements to on-campus educational and vocational counseling for veterans
- Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives Act to authorize an additional $16 million per year for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives (DBII), which supports dairy businesses in development, production, marketing, and distribution
- MGIB-SR Tuition Fairness Act, which establishes parity between reservists and active-duty personnel by requiring public higher education institutions to charge the same in-state tuition rates for veterans using MGIB-SR as veterans using other GI Bill programs
- Expedited Equitable Relief Act, which accelerates the delivery of equitable relief for veterans, their dependents, and beneficiaries to no later than 120 days after an administrative error is identified
- VETT Act to simplify the process for veterans enrolling in higher education

- No Tax on Tips Act, which eliminates federal income tax on qualified tips through a deduction at filing
- Senior Citizens Tax Elimination Act, which eliminates the double tax on seniors’ social security
- American CANS Act to require clear, country-of-origin labeling of canned goods
- Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act to permit schools to offer students whole, reduced-fat, low-fat – flavored and unflavored milk
- Protecting Infrastructure Investments for Rural America Act, which modifies the definition of rural area that is used for the Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program and adds provisions for small communities
- Fair Milk Pricing for Farmers Act, which requires dairy processors to report their cost and yield information through a mandatory reporting system to increase transparency and confidence for farmers that their milk is being priced appropriately
- Protecting Our Communities from Sexual Predators Act to require the Department of Justice to detain and provide for the inadmissibility and deportability of illegal aliens who have been arrested for sexual assault
- Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which permits law-abiding nonresidents of a state whose residents may carry concealed firearms may also do so in another state
- No Tax Dollars for Terrorists Act to oppose financial and material support from going to the Taliban
Bills I voted YES on to pass out of the House
- Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, which makes illegal aliens who evade Border Patrol agents ineligible for asylum and inadmissible to and removal from the U.S.
- HALT Fentanyl Act, which permanently places fentanyl-related substances as a Schedule I drug
- Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act to establish care requirements for health care practitioners in the case of a child born alive following an abortion or attempted abortion
- Laken Riley Act, which has been signed into law, to require DHS to detain illegal aliens who commit crimes like burglary, theft, larceny, and shoplifting in the U.S.
- Protecting Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, which makes illegal aliens who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence as inadmissible to and deportable from the U.S.
- Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act to keep biological men out of women’s sports and private spaces, like locker rooms
