In the early 70s, America tried to improve the connection we had with Iran, and one of the things we did was give them American Navy ships that were on their way to decommissioning. It was my job to train them on how to run the ship's electrical system. We had our active duty Navy sailors teach them how to operate the ships, from electrical generation to operating the weapons on board. Once they learned full operation (a difficult challenge) we gave them the ship!

I personally was working on the roof of a building installing a large air conditioning system on a bank roof, about 1978 or 9, and I heard a ruckus down on the street, and I watched what was reported in the news: a protest against the Shah of Iran at the Mayo Clinic. The Shah was there for medical purposes, and the protest caused some major disturbances.

My personal view was that if Shah had been honorable and fair and worked with the citizens, America could have helped, but he was a thug, and that did not work. For western methods to succeed would have required more than we knew how to or could give.

And the hostage taking of over 50 Americans to be held and not released was outrageous, and President Reagan proved that standing up to bullies was the only way to negotiate with terrorists. Reagan left them no doubt that America was not going to tolerate it once America had a real leader. Iran released them minutes after Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th U.S. President

Iran is known to be the world's largest sponsor of terror, but the fact is that the Houthies are an Iran-backed, Zaidi Shia political and military organization that currently controls much of northern and western Yemen, including the capital city, Sanaa. They have expanded into an active regional force, carrying out drone and missile strikes against international shipping and Israel. They have gone unchecked and strike whenever and wherever they want.

Iran has publicly stated multiple times "Death to America." They kill their own people with no concern, and they were planning to cause mass destruction to America if they got the chance. They don't value life like civil societies. Thank God someone has the wisdom and fortitude to crush their ability to harm Americans.

Kind of a political hot potato, but much of the problem with Iran today was caused by Obama's gutless, naive solution to a major repeat offender, trying to show that evil can be tamed by being nice to them. Just a bit more of my opinion!
