Sanctity of Human Life Month
“Our Nation cannot continue down the path of abortion, so radically at odds with our history, our heritage, and our concepts of justice. This sacred legacy, and the well-being and the future of our country, demand that protection of the innocents must be guaranteed and that the personhood of the unborn be declared and defended throughout our land.”
– President Ronald Reagan, National Sanctity of Human Life Day Proclamation, 1988
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan established January 22 as National Sanctity of Human Life Day in recognition of the 11th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the disastrous Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in all 50 states and led to the deaths of millions of babies. Although Roe was thankfully overturned nearly three years ago, we know our work on the pro-life front is not yet complete. For that reason, we continue to recognize and celebrate the sanctity of human life throughout the month of January. Beyond pursuing legislation to protect life in Wisconsin and around the nation, our work focuses on restoring a culture where life, marriage, and family are uplifted and honored. As Reagan noted in his 1988 address, we have witnessed a “cheapening of our respect for the human person and the sanctity of human life.” It’s our goal to change that.
This month, churches and pro-life organizations around the country will commit themselves to observing the sanctity of human life and praying for the restoration of pro-life values in our nation. If you want to take part in that, join us on January 22 at noon (CT) for our Lunch With a Purpose webinar with author/speaker Scott Klusendorf.
Scott is the president of Life Training Institute, where he trains pro-life advocates to persuasively defend the pro-life position. His presentations have been featured by Focus on the Family, Truths That Transform, and American Family Radio. His book, The Case for Life, is one of the best pro-life books on the market. Join us for an informative and challenging hour with one of the leading pro-life voices of our day. Click HERE to register.
Please pray with us this month for the redemption of our nation from the scourge of abortion. We know God desires for America to return to Him and honor His perfect design for marriage, family, and children. His way is best – for all of society. But Sanctity of Human Life Month is about more than being against abortion – it’s also about recognizing women facing crisis pregnancies who choose to deliver their babies despite difficult circumstances. It’s about championing adoption as a win-win-win situation – for the birth mom, the child, and the adoptive parents. It’s about honoring God’s plan for life.
We hope families, churches, and communities will continue to give special attention to the life issue this month. Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is January 19th. This is a great time to publicly and collectively thank God for the Dobbs decision and to encourage families to get involved with fostering, safe families, and adoption.
