A Light in the Darkness
Charlie Kirk’s tragic death has undoubtedly shaken our nation and magnified the brokenness of our world. For many, it feels like division and strife have encompassed every aspect of life, but even within this spiritual darkness, as Christians, we have a hope that is not of this world.
In John 16:33, Jesus encourages His disciples that, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” These words, spoken two thousand years ago, express a message that is still true today. Christ has overcome the world. Darkness is all around us, and those who choose to live in the light will experience trials and tribulations. But our Savior, Jesus Christ, has already declared victory over this present darkness.
In times of uncertainty, we must abandon the inclination to flee or hide. We can confidently stand for truth, and we have a responsibility to share our light with the world.
Jesus tells His disciples in Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Christians are called to stand together as lights in the darkness. Let’s use Charlie’s example and life to inspire us to reach our culture with the light of Christ. The time to stand for truth is now.
