This legislation establishes a permanent partial claims program within the VA Home Loan Program, bringing VA in line with other federal agencies that lend money for homes and replacing the fiscally irresponsible Biden administration-era VASP program. Veterans will be permitted to have the same programs non-veterans have available to them through FHA loans, allowing veterans who have fallen behind on their mortgages to receive federal assistance.
It’s recently come to my attention that the Democrat Party of Wisconsin is going to great lengths to undermine the credibility of our 2026 elections in Wisconsin.
Redistricted or gerrymandered maps could have a serious detrimental effect on next year's Congressional races of District 1 and District 3. Their specific goal appears to be replacing these Congressman holding two of the eight house seats that provide Republicans with their current six/two majority.
Typically, the summer months during the legislative session are light with legislative activity happening in Madison, in part so that representatives can spend more time in their legislative districts. However, in the past couple weeks, the Assembly Committee on Transportation, of which I currently serve as Chairperson, has held public hearings and votes on bills to potentially be brought before the full State Assembly this fall.
The Friends of NRA brought a unique blend of safety education and family fun to Onalaska Community Days on Saturday, August 2nd, hosting an engaging youth shooting activity from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The hands-on event drew approximately 100 participants for ages 12 and under. It was an experience that combined marksmanship, safety training, and plenty of smiles.
Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, representing the Empowered Community Coalition, recently filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Currently, the Seventh Circuit is reviewing two Wisconsin cases that previously gave permission to biological males who identify as transgender to use girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms in public schools. WILL’s brief urges the court to overturn both decisions in light of recent cases in the lower courts and in the US Supreme Court that have affirmed biological reality.
Wisconsin’s 2025-2027 biennial budget includes several provisions aimed at improving the affordability of childcare in the Badger state, ending the misguided effort to directly support private childcare providers’ operating expenses with taxpayer dollars — and instead focusing on reducing costs for families through regulatory reform and targeted assistance.
It’s a win for Wisconsin families.
Earlier today, my bipartisan Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Modernization Act was signed into state law.
Qualified APRNs in Wisconsin can now operate at the highest scope of their practice, which will help improve healthcare access in all corners of the state, especially in our rural and underserved communities.
More specifically, the new state statute authorizes APRNs to practice independently and without the need for a collaborative agreement with a physician – so long as the cases do not fall outside their areas of expertise.
My family and I just returned from our annual visit to Peninsula State Park in Door County. It was a terrific trip! The views were incredible, the meals were delicious, and it is always wonderful to spend quality time with my family. We have been camping in Door County for nearly 30 years, and our annual trip is the perfect opportunity to see firsthand how our reforms in our State Park System are working.
Remember in late July or early August the news out of Washington reported the Senate was going to delay their “work from home session” scheduled for the month of August due to the overwhelming number of presidential nominations they had to confirm? Today, these Senators are “working from home” and there are still, according to some reports, hundreds of presidential nominations awaiting confirmation by the United States Senate.
On July 3rd US Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) sent an e-mail reporting why he voted “Yes” on the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) Act after he had had voiced grave concerns throughout the legislative process. Sen Johnson wrote “With President Biden in the White House and majorities in both chambers of Congress, Democrats had every opportunity to repeal the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and increase taxes on ‘the rich. They did not do so.”
Alice was frustrated by Humpty Dumpty in Through the Looking Glass. She asked him about a word that he was using. He replied, "When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.". Alice said, " The question is, whether you can make words mean so many different things." " The question is, which is to be the master - that's all." said Humpty Dumpty.
