Bringing Whole Milk Options Back to Our Schools

Milk has 13 essential nutrients that are necessary for kids to live healthy lives and succeed in school. However, unwarranted government regulations have restricted milk variety in schools. With limited options, if students don’t like the milk they’re being served, they won’t drink it. This has resulted in many students skipping out on milk entirely and instead consuming highly caffeinated, sugar-sweetened beverages with little nutritional value.

This week, it was a great honor to be able to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Arlington National Cemetery.

This opportunity was nothing short of humbling as this sacred memorial site is dedicated to U.S. service members whose remains have not been found or identified.

I want to thank all the service members who gave their lives protecting our freedom.

Your family's sacrifice to our great nation will never be forgotten, and all Gold Star Families will be in the Seventh District's prayers this holiday season.

On December 13, the La Crosse County Study Committee on Policing gathered to discuss the document they issued containing their recommendations. The agenda included a Teams link so I joined in but quickly learned that they were not accepting public input so I was unable to ask the questions that no one else seems to be asking them:

Protecting American Dairy Farmers

Wisconsin is a leading dairy state, and our dairy farmers and processors work tirelessly to produce quality products. Therefore, it’s one of my top priorities in Congress to protect dairy farmers and ensure their products can continue to be enjoyed around the world. However, a recent U.S-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) dispute settlement panel ruling failed to hold Canada accountable for its tariff-free import permits that restrict the distribution of U.S. dairy products.

During the 2022 election season, our First Amendment rights were literally under attack. Dozens of political signs were destroyed on two properties along N. Superior Ave in Tomah. Our signs were both slashed and run over by a man described as a balding, white male in his 50s riding an electric bicycle with big fat tires. The culprit made his attacks at night under the cover of darkness. Local citizens offered clues as to who was committing these crimes. The Tomah Police Department was very responsive and worked diligently to investigate the events and identify the suspect.

Some days are just emblazoned in our memories. One of those days for me is May 8th, 2022, Mother's Day. I was at church early that morning to help get ready for a ladies' brunch happening at 9 a.m. At 7:45 or so, I received a call from one of our team members telling me I needed to immediately call the folks who manage our office building because we had had a "break-in." I quickly dialed building management and was told we'd had more than a break-in.

How is Inflation Impacting Your Holiday Season?

As we approach the end of the year, many folks are preparing for their holiday shopping and travels. However, with families spending $709 more each month than they did two years ago for the exact same goods and services, it’s understandable that many are concerned about affording these prices over the next few months.

Due to inflation, Americans are spending more while getting less – this is a direct result of years of Washington’s reckless spending.
