VanderMeer Bills Pass the Assembly
During an Assembly floor session, Assembly Bill 842 and Assembly Bill 874, authored by Rep. Nancy VanderMeer (R-Tomah), passed the Assembly with strong bipartisan support.
Assembly Bill 842 is intended to improve pharmacy access statewide, particularly in rural and underserved communities experiencing pharmacy closures, reduced operating hours, and workforce shortages that hinder timely access to essential medications.
Assembly Bill 874 requested by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, allows the Transportation Projects Commission, of which I serve as a member, to approve a major highway project with draft, rather than full, environmental documentation in order to comply with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements. This will allow the state DOT to comply with state and federal regulations and move projects forward faster, while still requiring legislative approval and maintaining the integrity of quality environmental examination for projects.
