Representative Joy Goeben and Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara recently introduced a new bill called the Teacher Bill of Rights. According to a press release from Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty written in support of the legislation, the bill, “clarifies and strengthens teachers’ authority to maintain order in the classroom, protects teachers from retaliation when they enforce classroom rules or respond to disruptive or violent behavior, and ensures transparency and accountability when serious behavior incidents occur at school.”

This bill is an excellent way to give educators the confidence they need to maintain order and control in the classroom. In many schools, teachers feel unable to discipline their students or enforce classroom rules which has created an environment that hinders real learning. We hope this legislation will help turn this trend around.
