Charlie Kirk Remembered
I’m sure by now you have heard the heartbreaking news of Charlie Kirk’s senseless assassination yesterday. Like you, our team is in shock and sickened by this tragedy.
Charlie has been a friend of our ministry and will be greatly missed. He would often come to our LEAD Wisconsin biblical worldview camp. For many campers, the highlight of the week was personally meeting Charlie and taking their picture with him.
Looking through photos of Charlie at our camp, I appreciated the testament of this photo with our President Emeritus, Julaine Appling. As I reflected on this picture, I was reminded that through their partnership many young people were transformed at LEAD Wisconsin.
I’ll never forget when a young lady asked Charlie, “How can we combat human trafficking?” Charlie’s immediate response was for our young men to “stop watching pornography.” His chastisement led multiple young men to repent from their sin and usage of pornography.
Charlie was also a man that cared about his family. He told our campers about the importance of family and shared how he would unplug from his phone each week to spend a Sabbath day with his wife and children.
Through my personal conversations with Charlie, I could see that he had a heart for the gospel. He truly believed that transformation happens when people come to knowledge of and saving faith in Christ.
I will remember Charlie for his faith, smile, wit, and partnership.
On Saturday, Charlie Kirk posted on X, “Jesus defeated death so you can live.” He had no idea about what would happen this week. Even now, although Charlie is no longer with us on earth, he is alive with Christ because Jesus defeated death and Charlie placed his faith in Christ.
This devastating incident brings the spiritual problems we have in our state and nation to the forefront. Our nation needs Jesus now more than ever before. Please pray for revival in our land.
Join us in praying for Charlie’s family and our friends at TurningPoint USA during this tragic time.
